Angela Mckay is an illustrator, surface pattern designer and painter who’s easily recognizable work is inspired by far flung travel adventures, the natural world, animals and the female form. Her work is created by hand, starting with pencil sketches that grow into saturated and highly detailed gouache, pencil and watercolor paintings. She loves to record her travels and musings by painting in small sketchbooks which are then often used as studies for works later on.

Her work has been commissioned by a wide variety of clients, from childrens’ books to large scale mural artworks, as well as collaborations with popular kids and womens fashion brands. Her work has also been featured in a variety of print publications as well as creating limited edition prints and products for her online store, Ohkii studio.

She has spent much of her professional life as an illustrator living in Brooklyn, New York, however has recently returned to the West Coast of Australia where she spends her spare time painting with the most demanding of collaborators, her 3 year old.
